The Call for the 2023 Catherine of Aragon Award for Playwrights
Convocatoria 2023 Premio Catalina de Aragón para dramaturgos
The Catherine of Aragon Festival is calling for submissions for the III LITERARY CREATION PRIZE "CATHERINE OF ARAGON THEATRE PRIZE," which will be awarded in accordance with the following:
TERMS:
All Spanish authors who submit original and unpublished Spanish-language theatrical texts may participate in this competition. The play must be set in the 16th and 17th centuries. Themes relating to events involving the Iberian Peninsula and Great Britain will be valued, with the aim of providing a contemporary vision of that era. Themes where women occupy the central role in the plot will also be highly valued. Authors who have previously received the Catherine of Aragon Prize are excluded from participating. No translations, adaptations, or reworkings, whether from novels, films, television, radio, or theatre, will be accepted.
A single prize will be awarded, consisting of the translation of the play into English and its performance in England at next year´s festival.
The text must not be less than 30 pages and must be written in 12-point font.
The play must not have more than 6 characters.
Authors may submit their work under a pseudonym.

The competition may be declared void.
The submission of entries will end on August 30th.
The composition of the jury responsible for deciding the prize will not be made public until the moment the prize is announced, and their decision will be final.
El Festival Catherine of Aragon convoca el III PREMIO DE CREACIÓN LITERARIA “CATHERINE OF ARAGON. PREMIO DE TEATRO", que se concederá de acuerdo con las siguientes
BASES:
Podrán participar en este concurso todos los autores españoles, que presenten textos teatrales en castellano, originales e inéditos. La obra de teatro debe estar ambientada en los siglos XVI y XVI. Se valorarán los temas sobre hechos que pusieron en relación a la península Ibérica y a Gran Bretaña, con el objetivo de dar una visión contemporánea de aquella época, y también serán mejor valorados los temas donde la mujer ocupe el centro de la trama. Quedan excluidos los autores que hayan obtenido el Premio Catherine of Aragon en anteriores ediciones. No se admitirá ningún tipo de traducción, adaptación o refundición, ya sea de novela, cine, televisión, radio, o teatro.
Se otorgará un único premio consistente en la traducción de la obra de teatro al inglés y su representación en Inglaterra en la próxima edición del festival.
La extensión del texto no será inferior a 30 folios y deberá utilizarse una fuente de 12 puntos. La obra de teatro no podrá tener más de 6 personajes.
Los autores deberá presentarse bajo seudónimo.

La resolución del premio se hará llegar al mismo correo electrónico desde donde se envió el original.
El concurso podrá ser declarado desierto.
La admisión de originales finalizará el 30 de agosto.
La composición del Jurado encargado de fallar el premio no se hará pública hasta el momento anunciarse el premio y su fallo será inapelable.
